Vaccines: Are they safe for YOU?

Many of you have emailed or called in to ask us what we know about vaccines. This topic is very controversial. So, we have briefly listed some information and resources on the pros and cons of vaccinations to help you make your own personal decision.

There have been several articles in the media lately on the topic of the public’s growing concern about the safety of vaccinations. Experts on both sides debate this issue, each proposing more studies when the old ones don’t fully support their theories. Actually, that is what it is all about, isn’t it? Theory. Does science really have the entire human immune system all figured out? Is there something that may elude science when it comes to invasive therapies and the complexity of our physical bodies? Do we all have cookie cutter metabolisms, like cloned sheep, or are there subtle differences that science hasn’t discovered yet? And what about the business factor? How much trust should humanity place in an industry that prefers patented therapies? These are good questions and it’s your responsibility to do your homework in order to make the right decision for yourself and your family.

Above all, you need to make an educated decision. To do that, you must research information from both sides of this issue. When it is all said and done, you will have become an investigative reporter. Otherwise you might as well just flip a coin. The time you spend to fully investigate your risk is worth it. Your health or the health and future of your family could be at stake.

Where can you go to get your questions answered? There are several resources you can turn to. Your medical physician is one. You can get the ‘pro’ scientific explanation for vaccines from this source. You can expect to receive government pamphlets on the benefits of vaccines with minimal mention of the side effects and risks. You will be reassured that millions of children and adults have been vaccinated with only a small percentage having severe or life-threatening reactions. If you are to investigate this in depth you should ask:

  • What does a very small percentage mean?
  • What about the reports that the true numbers have not been reported or have been downplayed by our government and the medical community?
  • Do these numbers really mean anything when it is you or your child who has a severe reaction from a vaccine?

On the ‘con’ side you will hear how harmful vaccines are. You will hear about babies who have died or suffered irreversible damage. These are heart-rending accounts that will take you through a box of Kleenex. But what about the facts? You should ask:

  • Is there any proof that what these families claim is true?
  • Is it possible that children can become spontaneously brain damaged and unresponsive with just the coincidence that this happened after a vaccination?
  • What about the large monetary claims our government pays out every year to these families?

What about the FDA? Aren’t they supposed to protect us from harmful medications and treatments? If they approved a medication or therapy, isn’t it completely safe? I think you know the answer to this question. One only needs to open the daily newspaper to read how the FDA blew it and is recalling medications. A recent example is the over-the-counter (OTC) cold and diet products containing phenylpropanolamine (PPA). Products with PPA put women (and possibly men) at a fifteen times greater risk of brain hemorrhage (stroke). It took 50 years for the medical community and FDA to discover this. Manufacturers and companies that sell these products feel that PPA has a 50-year track record of "market use" despite the Yale study that discovered the risk. So, to avoid a possible stroke, you should dispose of Alka-Seltzer, Dimetapp, Robitussin, Contac, Triaminic, Acutrim, Dexatrim and other diet and cold medications containing PPA in your medicine cabinet. This example raises the question; does science/medicine/FDA really know the true risks involved with any medication or therapy?

So, in reality, it is all up to YOU to check out any and all medications and treatments BEFORE you use them. This applies to natural therapies and botanical products as well, even though their track record is substantially longer than any medicine or treatment in modern medicine.
